CHORAL FESTIVAL
Welcome to our 2024 AIMS Choral Festival Syllabus. Now in its 39th year, our festival endeavours to maintain our tradition of hosting a quality weekend for both choral lovers and performers. We also manage to incorporate the high standards set by our renowned panel of adjudicators, within a friendly informal atmosphere.
Our syllabus caters for a wide range of choirs and choral genres which range from sacred music to musical cameo. There will be twenty sections during two days of youth and adult competitions, with something to suit everyone, be it large, small, female, male or mixed.
The AIMS Choral Festival is firmly established as a premier event in the southeast, attracting choirs, musical societies and soloists from all over Ireland. Every year brings a blend of familiar and new groups to New Ross and we hope you will choose to join us in 2024
We extend a warm invitation to any individual, choir or musical society to participate in one or multiple competitions across the weekend. You can be assured that you will find a competition to meet your needs!
There is always a great atmosphere and camaraderie during the two days with people sitting out on the streets in many areas of the town chatting and singing.
There will also be a ‘Choir of the Year’ award for our adult competitions, where the winners receive the ‘PAT DUNLEAVY AWARD’ kindly donated by the Dunleavy family.
Like many previous years we will be hosting a special Festival Gala Night on Saturday 18th May, which will feature much of the award-winning talent from the South East Region of AIMS. Details will be announced at a later date. For more information keep an eye on our website www.aims.ie and our Facebook page www.facebook.com/aimschoralfestival.
Along with our voluntary festival committee we are indebted to our army of volunteers without whom our festival would not be a success. The future looks bright. We run a very successful festival, but this can only be done in tandem with our committee and volunteers who give of their time and talent to ensure its success.
I hope you will take time to join us in New Ross for our festival weekend in May.
